This class is part 2 in our flat patterning series. In this flat pattern class, you will draft your extended, personal bodice using your measurements. This step-by-step method will result in your “sloper," which is the basis for drafting most garment designs for blouses, shirts, dresses and jackets. We will be meeting on Tuesday evenings January 8th- February 12th.

This series of classes will also build fitting skills and teach commercial pattern adjustments that complement each other as you progress through the different levels.  Let’s face it, the perfect fit makes the difference between a professional and a “homemade” look.

Sewing machines are available for use or you are welcome to bring your own machine.  Patterns are provided and included in the cost of the class.  We will provide a materials list when you register so you will have time to purchase your yardage (with the exception of Level A).

LEVEL B   Beginning II  5 Weeks       Cost $ 290

Next steps to more fitted clothes!  In this level you will learn about Darts, Pleats, Zippers, Buttons, Facings and how to make your pattern fit your figure.  Samples will be constructed to practice with different closure hardware such as hook & eye, snaps, straps and more.

The project for this class is a fitted A-line skirt that is part of the ensemble paired with the kimono style jacket from Level A.  This project teaches:

·         Darts

·         Back slit

·         Zipper

·         Pleats

·          Hand hemming. 

·         Choosing the appropriate fabric for your project, prints, nap and pattern matching

 

This class also focusses on fitting the commercial pattern to your personal measurements.
